Fortela was founded by entrepreneur and talent scout Alessandro Squarzi in 2015. Alessia Giacobino joined Alessandro Squarzi in 2020 and helped build the brand to what it is nowadays: an Italian luxury brand. The creative directors’ inspiration comes from Navajo culture, the colours of the desert, Montana’s landscapes and workwear. Denim is one of the main fabrics used, Japanese selvedge is sewn on original Union Special machines from the 1930s and 40s which Squarzi acquired for the brand’s production. The denim is used for western shirts, work jackets and jeans. Other fabrics used are wool, crafted into Navajo style jacquard jackets, and suede for western shirts and jackets.
