BEHIND THE BRAND
Trish Westcoat Pound
In this interview, the founder of TWP shares the inspiring story behind the brand. From a simple love for a shirt to a refined collection that blends Italian fabrics, sharp tailoring, and American sportswear. Discover how TWP creates effortless, versatile, and refined clothing that accompanies women through their daily lives, with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and timeless style.
What was the original idea behind TWP?
It began with my love of a shirt something borrowed from a man’s closet reimagined with fit, fabrication, and ease. From that idea, it has grown into a collection with a deep appreciation for Italian fabrics, sharp tailoring, and pieces designed to fit seamlessly into a woman’s lifestyle.
How did your personal take on American sportswear evolve into the collection we see today?
For me, American sportswear is about ease. There’s a casualness to it met with an elevated feel. TWP balances those elements with tailoring, shirting and trousers there's a denim component and a nod to American heritage workwear as well. The foundation is an effortless wardrobe: elevated but easy, cool but always wearable.
How would you describe TWP’s aesthetic in a few words?
Effortless, versatile, elevated.
What defines the visual and emotional identity of your brand?
Our deep appreciation for Italian fabrics is the foundation of the collection. Fit and fabrication remain at its core, and every piece is designed to travel with women throughout their lives. We hope to create clothes that become go-tos for effortless wardrobe pieces that feel elevated yet easy.
Your collections seem to reflect both intention and lived experience where do you draw your inspiration season after season?
My inspiration always begins with women their lives, their energy, their movement through the world… This includes my daughter Jillian, who inspires me every day. Our travels together provide yet another immense source of inspiration season after season.
Is there a moment or process that consistently shapes your creative direction?
Fittings. Spending time refining fabrication and fit is where the real identity of the collection takes shape.
What first drew you to fashion?
It wasn’t what I thought I would do, it was an opportunity life gave me. I’m grateful to the universe for what was supposed to be just a summer in New York.
Looking back on your journey, what are you most proud of?
Teaching my daughter that although you may fall down, you can always get back up.
Step Into TWP
When you see someone wearing TWP, what do you think or feel?
It’s the greatest compliment a designer can receive. I still feel surprised and excited every time,I pinch myself.
Is there a single piece every woman should own?
A good shirt. "The Next Ex" is our most popular, and I’m a big fan of "The Big Joe", too. Our shirt names tell tales of love and loss.
You’ve built something truly distinct, what has leading your own brand taught you about business or even about yourself?
Resilience. To stay true to my vision, adapt when needed, and balance creativity with business.
Sustainability is on everyone’s mind how does TWP approach it in production, design, or mindset?
By making better-quality pieces that last. For me, it starts with beautiful fabrics and thoughtful construction. It’s a big and important conversation, and we are committed to continuing to learn and evolve.
Looking ahead, what excites you most?
Continuing to evolve with our woman, finding new ways to connect with her, and pushing ourselves each season.
Are there any projects, collaborations, or evolutions on the horizon?
Yes. We’re rolling out our retail concept, expanding into Europe, and working on accessories. We’re honored to be part of your curation.
Is there anything you would like to share with our team members as they begin to get to know and work with your collections?
We use some of the best yarns and fabrics from Italy, often collaborating directly with mills. Fit and versatility are at the core of everything we do.
Is there anything you would like to get across to our clients?
Our hope is to create clothes that women truly live in, pieces that feel effortless, versatile, and beautifully made. We’re so grateful to every client who makes TWP part of their wardrobe.
