about the brand
supreme luxury | made in italy | humanistic enterprise
In 1978 Brunello Cucinelli first enchanted the world of fashion with his ideas on dyeing cashmere. Since then, his eponymous brand has not only kept designing beautiful cashmere items, but has grown to be a prestigious luxury label, designing ready-to-wear collections for both men and women, supplemented by leather accessories and footwear.
Every piece is completely made by hand by the brand’s Italian workers in the 14th century hamlet of Solomeo in Umbria, Italy. It is there that you can truly witness the characteristic humanistic approach with which Brunello leads his company. When he was just a boy, he witnessed his father work in an unfriendly environment. This led him to become a poignant observer of the world around him, and he dreamt of creating work that cherished the human morale and dignity.
Convinced that peaceful and beautiful surroundings enhance creativity and solidarity, he decided to make Solomeo home to his humanistic enterprise in 1982. Offices and workspaces were created in the medieval fortress, with wooden beams, stone fireplaces, frescoed walls and brick floors. The old farmhouse was transformed into an office canteen, where only the best traditional Umbrian food is prepared. The result is sincere harmony. ‘Because,’ says Brunello, ‘those who work here are truly party of the company. Our total quality is only the combined result of the qualities of every individual here.’
